As with every post-Covid-19 event, this year’s birthday celebration was a bit… unusual. What should have been a fun evening out with friends turned into an equally enjoyable, romantic tête-à-tête at home on the terrace. Not to downplay the festivities, it was a perfectly lovely evening complete with music, dancing, food, games, a sunset, video-chatting friends and family, spent with the people closest to my heart – Mike and Dundun.

The party started with a small but complete aperitivo, with my favourite, a refreshing Gin & Tonic.

We had it all: olives, taralli, chips, vegan cheese and meatballs, and, of course, gin tonics, all set to a wonderful soundtrack.

I decided to ditch the sweats and actually get dressed up for my own birthday! A fresh look for a spring birthday.

But as with all good times, they fly. As the party raged on, the earth was turning, the sun was setting. So before going in to sit down for dinner, we watched the sun set; in all its multi-coloured glory.

The party moved indoors. It was time to eat. Our dinner consisted of fish– the specialty of the charming fishing village we live in– it was mostly raw, but some of it was cooked. We paired our meal with Italian bubbles: prosecco.

And last but not least, the birthday cake. My favourite: a deliciously moist carrot cake with pineapple, raisins, and walnuts covered with a cashew frosting.
Voilà! The only photo evidence of the wondrous, homemade delicacy.

Thanks for coming. Cheers!
